Who's the hot guy ?

Captain Jack Harkness, played by John Barrowman. He's the main character of the TV show Torchwood (a Dr. Who spin-off series). Jack begins as a time traveller and former con man from the 51st century and becomes a member of Torchwood, a British organisation dedicated to combating alien threats.

A break from the Supernatural fandom ?

A very short one.  It's just that I am watching Torchwood at the moment so I wanted to try something new (before working on a new art for my Wallpaper Project)

Tools of  the trade ?

Photoshop CS + Manga Studio Debut

A short WIP ?



1) I drew the face and the hands using Photoshop CS (blue palette) and then I switched to Manga Studio Debut for the black outlines (pen tool + pencil tool)
2) Back to PS. I added a background texture and a screentone taken from the DA page Screentones.
3) I added some colors thanks to several gradient layers set to "Multiply" and "Soft Light". I changed the palette thanks to the "Curves" and the "Color Balance". Done!

I like the effect you've created with the screentone in comparison to the "real" painting of Jack.

I have to admit I was a bit confused at first, because I really didn't expect anything Torchwood-related to pop up on my flist. (But it's a good confusion, really!)

Thanks a lot ^^ I wanted to try something new and mixing comic and digital painting :D In addition, it takes less time than a "pure" CG painting ;)

I have to admit I was a bit confused at first, because I really didn't expect anything Torchwood-related to pop up on my flist.
I can admit it's a little bit surprising and that people are more used to my Spn fan arts but I draw a lot of things ^^ I've just posted a Resident Evil on my website for instance ^^

I agree, usually I am not very fan of TV show spin-offs but for Torchwood, it's different :) It's so different from Dr.Who that it's a TV show on its own.

I am just discovering Torchwood :/ I started by Dr Who (I am one of the rare who prefer Matt Smith to Tennant) and then I watched Torchwood ^^
Talking about English TV show, if you want to laugh, watch the IT crowd, it's excellent :)

I started watching Torchwood first, actually. Just because some had mentioned something about "Spike bottoming for hottie Jack Harkness" and I was all over that like white on rice, man. xD After watching the first two seasons of Torchwood (what was available at the time), I started watching Doctor Who episodes that had him in it. And I fell in love with the younger Jack as well, before he become all jaded. I really miss that Jack. =(

Children of Earth made me swear off Torchwood, though. I hated it that much.

The IT crowd, huh? =) I just finished watching the first two seasons of The Misfits. I'm kind of iffy on it, though.

Sorry about the mail thing! I was slowly working my way up and then I had to go to town. Will get on that.

Torchwood surprised me a lot. 3 of the main characters died (huh, ok, it's the same thing with Spn, everybody died at a moment or another and they had no pb killing important characters). I didn't like Toshiko a lot but I was pissed when I saw they killed Ianto, I liked him.
I was really happy to see "Spike" again on TV with his "space cowboy" look XD

I started Misfits too but I didn't had the time to finish. It's not bad ^^

very cool style! Love the mix of screen tones and realism. I saw the Dr. Who eps with John Barrowman, but have only seen a little bit of Torchwood. I think the style suits him cause he plays a pretty unique character from what I remember...

Thank you! I wanted to try something new (I ALWAYS want to try something new. 9 out of 10 times the result is a disaster but huh..at least it's funny..)

I didn't see the Dr Who eps with Jack ^^ We ordered with my BF the episodes with David Tennant and we are waiting for them to arrive :)

For me he's really THE character of Torchwood because I find him actually pretty charismatic (and the actor is good too) ^^
