What's the concept ?

I filled the following prompt for the

sharp_teeth community requested by

rokhal :

As Sam's Wall breaks down, things from behind it trickle out into the real world.

I just HAD to drew this. The "Great Wall of Sam"? Monsters stepping out into the real world? It's just perfect! I love drawing gore stuffs and I must admit I haven't drawn something like this for a long time. I've been working on my very schmoopy prompt for

spn_cinema (inspired by the movie Romeo + Juliet) for one month and an half now and even if I love the result so far, I missed drawing arts with blood, skulls and organs all over the page. Even if there is a death scene in R+J, it's nothing compared the gore potential offered by what's hidden behind the "Great Wall of Sam".

An inspiration?

The anatomical drawings by J.M Bourgery and N.H Jacob. I have the Taschen book at home and I am in love with it (it's a BIG book). I also had some help from my Mum's books (she's a surgeon). Here's an example of the great illustrations you can find in the Bourgery and Jacob's book:

Tools of the trade

- Graphite, charcoal and China Ink on Japanese paper for Sumi e

- Photoshop CS (Background texture + white highlights)

WOW! I love the look on his face. The texture of the paper just adds something to it all. Or maybe that's just me since it makes me want to reach out and touch.

This paper drove me nuts. It's very fragile and I was always afraid to tear it >< The effect it gives is not bad but I am not sure to use it again XD

It's freaking gorgeous! A bit creepy, but gorgeous nonetheless!

Un de mes meilleurs amis est médecin, et j'adore regarder ses livres d'anatomie. Je trouve ça fascinant, tout comme les opérations chirurgicales que tu peux voir dans certains documentaires ou dans le magazine de la santé, par exemple.

Ahhh Le magazine de la Santé! Michel Cymes et ses blagues grivoises sont un plaisir (couplable, le plaisir). Les sujets sont interessants mais en plus, j'avoue que j'ai tendance à rigoler plus qu'à la normal pour un magazine médical.
J'avoue, ce fan art est gore mais quand on répond à une requête pour Sharp_teeth, c'est toujours pour pondre un truc gore (Ca serait bien dommage sinon!)

Holy Hell!! That's amazing. I love that it shows the horror that surrounds Sam and it's as though he's trying to keep it at bay - but it's breaking through. So heart wrenching and scary.

I'm a gore fanatic, and I always GUH over your creepy!art. *____* it's seriously gorgeousss.

(I also went over to

sharp_teeth for the first time to check it out and had to shield my eyes, and click "BACK BACK BACK" when I started GETTING IDEAS AND FALLING ALL OVER THE PROMPTS. D:)

I used a 9B pencil for the shading and the 3H for the highlights ^o^

Don't ask me about the finger in the brain on the reference picture. I really don't understand what the hell this finger is doing there. XD I noticed it too but unfortunately, I don't have an answer :/

I missed drawing gory stuffs like that ♥

that is gory and disgusting and a little creepy and perfect for the show. i like the way that the wall behind him looks like it's cracking, and overall it looks like sam is being swallowed/absorbed by all the monsters and darkness but is trying to hold them back, which i actually really like. (altho i'm not sure that's what you were going for.)

That's exactly what I was going for ^o^ Your description of my art is perfect. Sometimes I have problem explaining what I wanted to convey but people who leave comments always know how to find the right words. =D

My goodness. Poor Sammy. Damn, I hope it's not really that bad. I kept staring at his belly button. It seemed ... vulnerable all exposed. Also noticed the top jeans button being open. Hmm. There may be a theme here :) Illustration is stunning. And scary as heck.

Now that you mention it, I really wonder why I drew him with the top jeans button open XD That's funny that with all the horrible things going on around Sam, the thing you noticed the most is the belly button. ^^

I love it when you dabble in the macabre. The sinewy/veiny outgrowth surrounding him looks amazing.

I missed macabre and gore a lot after all the schmoopy and funny arts I drew in the last couple of months. I should draw that kind of stuffs more often =D

As far as the the texture is concerned, it depends: the sepia texture is added thanks to Photoshop but the grain of the image is due to the paper itself. It's a Japanese paper for ink works like sumi e

Wow, that's amazing. I love the texture, and the way the skull sort of melts (so not the right phrasing) into his face.

That inspiration picture is creepy. My immediate reaction was 'Urgh!' but I am quite fascinated by it.

Oh, also, also, the way they're surrounding him, and he's trapped by them. By 'melting' I meant that smoky effect where the skulls and his shoulder/side of his face blur together.
