I am launching a new section here on my LJ called "Outtakes". I will post fan arts that never reached the color stage, drawings I dropped in the middle, sketches of existing illustrations, first tries, etc. If you love B&W, this place is for you !

You have to know however that this section is typically a "YMMV place". Some of you will think I was totally right to let the following drawing(s) rot in the depths of my HD, some of you will think on the contrary it's a pity but c'est la vie! ^^

It is a little bit too soon for an "Outtakes Master Post" but I will soon create one so that you won't have to browse my whole LJ to find what you are looking for. There will be me more to come, outtakes for instance, for illustration arts I did for "Beautiful Disaster" (a fan fiction by Thenyxie) or sketches for a fan art I will post soon called "Wish you were here" (this one however is almost finished and is in full color!)

What's the concept ?

Sam & Dean Winchester, the two heroes from the TV show Supernatural. I haven't drawn the two brothers together for ages, not since a fan art called Winchesters' Laundry Day, so I wanted to put the boys on the same picture again. It didn't turn out exactly like I wanted so I dropped.

In the final version, Dean should have drawn a blood sigil on the wall, which doesn't make sense as the angel banishing sigils appeared only in Season 4 and that I used here reference photos from 4-5 years ago (Season 1 or 2 I think)....A little anachronistic in a way so, my "so brilliant idea" was doomed from the very beginning.

Where does the title come from ?

It's the title of a song by Dire Straits. Too bad this band has never been on the show, I think it would have fit perfectly with the atmosphere of Supernatural and Dean's musical tastes. Too expensive for Kripke maybe ;)

Why did this fan art stay in the depths of your hard drive ?

A little bit too "wincesty" for me ("Aww, really?!!"

). It looked like a pretty cool idea at the beginning but finally at the end I was like "hum...nan...That's not gonna make it". I finally dropped just before I could complete Sam and Dean's hands. And I just didn't like their hands on that drawing anyway. I am not found of Dean's face either. I think it's because of the reference photo I used, it wasn't maybe the best choice...

How long have you kept that drawing in your computer ?

It's been 3 months now...Other drawings have been there for much longer. It's a little bit a kind of "fan arts purgatory" ^^

Will you finish it one day ? A color version maybe ?

Hum...I don't think so. I think it's not that bad in B&W finally and as I am not a big fan of the concept (what concept BTW ?

) it will remain as it is now.

What medium did you use ?

A little bit of everything :

- Traditional :
pencils, crayolas (oil pencils for kids), charcoal, white paint

- Digital :
* Photoshop CS : predefined brushes + color adjustment
* Painter Essential 3 : Digital Watercolors
* Paint Pro Shop : frame

Did you use reference photos for the inspiration ?

- As far as the pose is concerned, I had the inspiration thanks to a photo I found on DA but I just can't find it right now in my computer and I don't remember in what Deviant gallery I found it. If it rings a bell...
