The Winchester Anatomicae is a 14 page fanbook focusing on hurt!Dean and the story of Dean through his scars and his deaths. It's presented as a sort of diary.

About the Anatomicae

This project was drawn especially for a friend. Exactly like I adapted my Christmas cards to the tastes, kinks and ships of the persons I sent the cards to, I drew this project to be the perfect present for someone very special. My friend is a Dean girl, she's MAD about hurt!Dean, she prefers Gen but has nothing against Wincest and/or Wincest subtext overall. So basically, all these elements are the center of The Anatomicae, particularly hurt!Dean.

Tools of the trade:
- Photoshop CS6
- Photography (Book texture on pages 1,2, 12, 13, 14)
- I used some of Blakravell Watercolor brushes

Did you work on your own?

For the art, yes. For the text, I wrote everything in my bad!English and the awesome becc_j came to the rescue to beta the text and make the English flow. If Dean sounds really like Dean and not like a French tourist on vacation in L.A, it's thanks to her. Thank you SO MUCH!

The amount of detail was exhausting but I am happy with the result so it was worth the effort :)

P_M, you've made me cry. Again. For the sheer beauty of the art and the sentiment behind it, yes . . . but especially for "November 2013," dear God, that broke my heart. Then at the end, the burning of that page . . . because Sam is forgiven? Oh, wow. &hearts

Beautiful job! I love, love, love the glowing ECG tracing running throughout and linking everything to the beat of Dean's heart. (There's some textbook-class medical anatomy rendering going on there, too. Sheesh, what can't you do?)

. . . but why no ECG tracing on the second and last three pieces? The glowy red is there, lurking in the bones or in the form of scribbled lines, but the heartbeat itself is gone. Was there a thematic reason for that?

I didn't want this fanbook to end on an unhappy note and to blame Sam for everything. This work is everything but a "Sam bashing" work so I added the two last pages that are really a declaration of love from Dean to his brother. You can take it as you want. As something very "brotherly" if you are into gen and something with a wincest subtext if you prefer slash. It's really open to interpretation ^o^

. . . but why no ECG tracing on the second and last three pieces?
Nope, it stops right away, like a flat ECG, on Dean's heart after what he sees as a treason from Sam.
It become a red line to underline what is important. It goes from one boy to the other and circle the word "Always", so yes, there was a reason :3
